Yes c) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
Yes d) Should abortion be legal when the life of the woman is endangered?

No g) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for abortion procedures?
No h) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
Pro-Choice/Pro-LIfe is NOT a simple "yes or no" question. Anytime we are dealing with "life and/or death" issues we MUST consider each case individually without moral restrictions, without legal encumberments. These are "medical" issues and should consider ONLY the consul of medical professionals.

No b) Increasing tuition rates at public universities
No c) Reducing or eliminating public worker collective bargaining
No d) Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions
No e) Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees
No f) Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients
When we compartmentalize these very sections as defined we may find that some are suffciently financed now, as is. It is our "general fund" prime directive that has opened the doors for state monies to flow in every direction except the one the fund was "ear marked" for.
As it is our citizens pay almost 65% of their earned income on hidden and overt taxation.. supporting our "government" is draining our fiscal growth and devastating our ability to grow and prosper. It is our State Government that needs to "tighten the belt" and let our people work, prosper, and generate a future of sound fiscal practices! This may include reducing government by eliminating redundant agencys, "oversight" committees, and allowing the citizens to "join in" by BEING the agency or committee as needed!
All of these "ideas" are weak and ineffective. Tapping Oregon's "rainy day" fund is the only useful suggestion on the list! That is what "emergency funds" are for.. however, that won't "balance the budget".. none of these or even ALL of these ideas together will achieve that. In fact, All of these are simply proposals to avert dealing with the budget in a rational, methodical, sound manner a "real" budget demands. We cannot expect to simply increase the tax burden on the citizens while at the same time undercutting their personal prosperity and expect to survive as a State.

a) Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

No 1) Individual
Yes 2) Political Action Committee
Yes 3) Corporate
Yes 4) Political Party
No b) Should candidates for state office be encouraged to meet voluntary spending limits?
Yes c) Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information?
No d) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
No e) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
Voter Fraud is rarely done by voters! It is usually done by political partys and "special interest". Efforts to eliminate "voter fraud" at the candidate level is mis-directed effort.
No a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes b) Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
Yes c) Do you support legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana?
No d) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
No e) Should a minor who sends sexually-explicit or nude photos by cell phone face criminal charges?
No f) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
The Feds are using "immigration" as a smoke screen for their own ineptness.. let us not get involved in this "non-issue"... I'd be happy to defend my view in debate. I'm opposed to "Capital punishment".. generally.. dead people are not punished, just dead. However, for those rare individuals that frighten us, I'm for shipping them to Texas.. let Texas decide their "life or death" with their penal system.
Yes a) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
No b) Do you support increased state funding for job-training programs that re-train displaced workers?
Yes c) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
Yes d) Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation?
No e) Do you support government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes f) Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure?
Yes g) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage?
Yes h) Do you support expanding liquor sales?
De-regulate cottage industry, private start-ups and small operating businesses to encourage fiscal growth. A balance to Banking and financial institute mal-feasance is state support for those victimized by corporate crimes. Minimum wage has always been the ONLY line keeping corporations from turning our workers into a slave market. IF, corporations were willing to pay a "living wage" we wouldn't be having this conversation. Liquor is a real money maker... prohibition proved it's financial value.. however we need to change a few regs on the backside of expansion to maintain public safety.
No a) Do you support the national Common Core State Standards initiative?
No b) Do you support a merit pay system for teachers?
No c) Is the tenure process for public school teachers producing effective teachers?
Yes d) Should parents be allowed to use vouchers to send their children to any school?
No e) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
No f) Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid?
Yes g) Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Oregon high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
"Common Core" needs abolished and forgotten as an embarrassment to any and all who promote it! Parents should be able to send their children to any school they can provide transportation to and from without "vouchers". Charter schools are "private business" and should be allowed many varied "privileges" in curriculum etc, but not financed by the State. This nation was founded on "illegal immigrants"... I suggest we remember our "roots" ...and support our innovators proven over 200 years of history!
Yes a) Do you support state funding for the development of alternative energy?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for the development of traditional domestic energy sources (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil)?
Yes c) Do you support state funding for improvements to Oregon's energy infrastructure?
Yes d) Do you support state funding for open space preservation?
No e) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
Funding from the State for Alternative energy is for private developers ONLY, not corporations or public utility companys since they have proven to NOT deliver to the citizens. Development of "domestic" energys sources must also be strictly limited..perhaps to hydro dams exclusively. "Open Space" was the goal of our national parks system that has already been severely compromised. We could lose the entire state to the timber industry without such a clause! Greenhouse gases are being spewed from exposed ancient carboniferous forests exposed at the poles.. more greenhouse gas than all of human contribution combined!
No a) Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
No b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
No c) Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
No d) Should a license be required for gun possession?
The second amendment says "shall not be infringed". That works for me. However, "concealed" doesn't.. I believe in "open carry" .. show it or leave it at home!
No a) Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option?
No b) Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform?
No c) Do you support interstate health insurance compacts?
No d) Do you support Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act?
No e) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
No f) Do you support monetary limits on damages that can be collected in malpractice lawsuits?
Yes g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes?
I'm opposed to ANYTHING that puts money in the pockets of "Insurance".. they are the "money lenders of the temple". I am for a socialized healthCARE program as practiced in 47 other countries. That alone would put a "cap" on mal-practice settlements and suits. I believe, until then, that insurance pay the damages.. no matter how high the amount, that's their job..that's what they "sold" the doctors when they promised to "cover them" for "mal-practice". The price they charge doctors it's a wonder we even have doctors..it's outrageous and a major part of Healthcare costs!
Yes a) Do you support same-sex marriage?
No b) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Oregon's anti-discrimination laws?
No c) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Oregon's anti-discrimination laws?
First of all.. the State has NO business in "marriage" ..that's a venue of religion. However, "civil union" (of which marriage is one type) can and needs to be regulated in the interests of the public. It is NOT the states place to dictate who can or cannot join in Civil Union.
To promote economic growth across the state my focus would lean toward the "deregulation" of small businesses. The introduction of the "Peace Officer" department for law enforcement agencys to reduce stress on our courts, prisons, and the officers themselves. The transformation of our beloved OHP into a smoothly efficient example of HealthCARE system the rest of the nation will embrace!
